Click Designer 1.0.0-beta.3 — public beta

Support

Installing it, and the questions that actually come up.

If none of this covers it, email hello@viastudios.com.

Installing

Four steps.

  1. 01

    Run the installer

Run the installer and take the defaults. The Audio Unit is installed where Logic expects plug-ins.

  2. 02

    Open Logic

Logic validates new Audio Units at launch. If it does not appear, use Plug-In Manager to reset and rescan the selection.

  3. 03

    Insert it

Add Click Designer to a Software Instrument track to use Host Sync, or replace Klopfgeist on Logic's Click strip and select MIDI Sync.

  4. 04

    Set the pulse

Choose Follow Meter for a normal accent pattern, set a custom pattern grid, or select a Division rate. Each of the three voices has its own sound and level.

Questions

Straight answers.

Why not just use Logic's built-in metronome?

Logic's metronome is good at keeping a basic pulse. Click Designer is for when the downbeat, beat, and subdivision need separate sounds and controls, when you want a custom pattern, or when you want to run the click from MIDI or internal tempo.

Does it follow the tempo track?

Yes. In Host sync, Click Designer reads the host transport, tempo, and meter. It does not set tempo; it follows it.

Can I trigger it from MIDI?

Yes. Select MIDI as the sync source, set Accent and Beat note numbers, and choose whether accents come from note number or velocity threshold. Click Designer produces sound; it does not output MIDI.

Is it going to stay free?

Free through the beta, and everyone who downloads it during the beta keeps it. It will be a one-time purchase at 1.0, not a subscription.

Which formats are included?

The project builds AU, VST3, and a standalone app. Click Designer is designed around Logic Pro, including a setup path that replaces Logic's Click strip instrument.

Can I use my own click sounds?

Yes. Each Accent, Beat, and Division voice can load a WAV, AIFF, or FLAC file. The sample is embedded in the plug-in state so the session remains portable.

Is there any copy protection?

No. No account, no activation, no phoning home, no license server that can go dark in five years. You download a package, you run the installer, it works.

Bug reports

Tell me the version, the host, and what you were doing.

That’s genuinely enough to fix most things. If the plugin crashed, macOS will have written a report to Console under User Reports — attaching it turns a week of guessing into an afternoon.
